About us

Welcome to the Shiptonthorpe Arms

The Shiptonthorpe Arms is owned by family run Robeanne House (Which is also in Shiptonthorpe).

Robeanne House has been in the business for 30 years holding a very high success rate and very proud of its outstanding reviews.

Bought in 2012 and formally known to locals as the Ship Inn; This former pub was left unoccupied and desperately neglected for many years before Rob, Jeanne and their son Bobby purchased the property.

Due to the years of neglect this has a very big project and because of this it has been tackled in stages over 5 years.

The first stage and one thought to be fairly straight forward was the five guest rooms located at the back of the building.

The bathrooms where all very small  requiring complete renovation. They have now been completely stripped back, renovated and decorated with modern fittings and power showers.

All the bedroom rooms have been re-plastered , decorated , and furnished to a very high standard, the art work in each of the bedrooms is the work of local artist Sue Deighton. You can visit her website via our links page.

We  have a guest kitchen for group bookings, a place where guests can cook some food or eat their takeaways or simply relax with friends.

The old building was not attractive but behind the tired rough exterior we hoped there was a hidden gem.

The main old building was in a sorry state requiring major refurbishment, all rotten wood, and  plaster has gone. Its all re wired, re plumbed with lovely new toilets. Its toasty and warm, bright and cheerful and very welcoming.

Its been a long journey but there’s plenty of exciting times ahead.
